@julienbarnoin with steam I had to spend days figuring out how to cache the auth key into my CI cache. Which I could only do by actually logging in on the server. None of my attempts to put a key in an EnvVar worked.

With itch I just stuck a key in an EnvVar, download their CLI on the sever, and run the command, it just worked

Also, itch just takes a folder path and an app ID to put it in, none of this vdf depots nonsense

yoooooooo just got setup with @itchio automatically deploying from our game dev server. It was super straightforward, Valve should frankly be embarresed at to sorry state of steamcmd on the CI

Love my little ErgoDox, but using it is sooo mentally taxing. It’s rewiring my brain so hard I literally had to take a nap over lunch

God damn, just found out about `git rebase exec` and `git bisect run`. Watch the fuck out

Whoever did sound for 30 Rock season 1 should be tried at the fucking Hague

God damn, I don’t buy new games, but I had to get HellDivers

I know it doesn’t sound like much, but I’ve spent the whole week working on a pre-caching system to make sure our character’s game art appears in 50ms

Might do a write up at some point soon, I’ve learned a tonne of interesting stuff about JavaScript image processing

There’s actually only one time signature, it’s just that there’s lots of ways to play 4/4 wrong

@fasterthanlime what did you decide about kagi in the end? I know you were trailing it, but I don't remember ever seeing a verdict :)

Weighing up the idea of publishing to itch.io. I wana foster platform diversity and store-fee competition. But, We’re using steam’s controller compatibility layer, and I don’t know if it’s worth setting up another build process etc for a much smaller market share. Any game devs have thoughts?

Making your own clothes is great if you want to spend more money and time for worse results. I can't recomend it enough

Anyone else here using Helix Editor for coding? It’s a nifty vim-a-like with great LSP and Tree-Sitter support helix-editor.com/

Here's a fun game dev bug I had to fix today: On very low difficulties, when you got into this position, the AI would move the F7 pawn and put itself in checkmate!

It took me a long time to even reproduce in our tests, but I've finally got it fixed

🎧 Spent the few days listening to chill Book Club Radio mixes, here’s my favourite I found: youtube.com/watch?v=y779MPTCQT

There’s a certain kind of emo band who’s self pitying lyrics dance back and forth between great and cringe constantly.

Bring Me The Horizon might be the epitome of this: they can sometimes alternate multiple times in a single song
